The project "Promotion of PEFC Standards through Networking of Non-Governmental Organizations and Promotion of Sustainable Forest Management in Private Forests in Bosnia and Herzegovina" started in May 2023 with the aim of advancing the implementation of PEFC standards and sustainable forest management in the country, thereby fostering environmentally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically sustainable forest management practices.
Led by the Association of Private Forest Owners "NAŠA ŠUMA" Čelinac, the project brings together a consortium of partner organizations, including the Association of Private Forest Owners of the Central Bosnia Canton, Forestry and Environmental Action - FEA, and the Initiative for Quality and Sustainable Development - IKOR.
A key focus of the project is to promote the utilization of PEFC standards through diverse tools and communication channels, educating the target audience, and especially private forest owners on the benefits and opportunities of PEFC certification, and advocating for increased financial and technical support for the implementation of PEFC standards among policymakers.
To achieve these objectives, the project will undertake various activities, including conducting surveys to assess private forest owners' awareness of PEFC standards, developing a project communication strategy, creating communication materials to disseminate information about PEFC standards, establishing the website www.pefc.ba, producing promotional video highlighting the significance and benefits of PEFC standards in Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensuring media coverage of project activities, and organizing workshops to educate stakeholders.
“Promotion of PEFC Standards through Networking of Non-Governmental Organizations and Promotion of Sustainable Forest Management in Private Forests in Bosnia and Herzegovina” is funded through the project "Misli o prirodi!", which is implemented by the Center for Civil Society Promotion (CPCD) and financially supported by Sweden.
